Understand the assumptions.
Contribution per unit = price − variable cost. Theoretical units = fixed costs ÷ contribution. Whole-unit break-even rounds units up. Break-even sales = whole units × price. Theoretical sales use the unrounded unit result.
Assumes constant price and variable costs, fixed costs within the modeled range, a single product or stable sales mix, and sufficient capacity. Financing, income taxes, inventory purchases, and timing of customer payments are not modeled.
Before you use the result.
Use the estimate as a starting point for a conversation about your business.
Can a service business use this?
Yes. A unit can be a project, appointment, billable hour, or another consistent sales unit with a representative price and variable cost.
What if variable cost is higher than price?
There is no finite break-even at those unit economics. Adjust price or costs before calculating a positive contribution.
Are my figures stored or submitted?
No. This calculator runs in your browser and does not save or submit the numbers. Booking and contact forms are separate services.
